Allergy & Immunology
When it comes to allergy and immunology treatments, Manhattan Medical uses a team approach to provide the most comprehensive treatments for better breathing and allergic reactions. The allergists work closely with pulmonologists and ear nose and throat surgeons because many allergies are connected to sinus disease, hearing loss, or pulmonary function. This collaboration allows the Manhattan Medical allergy and immunology specialists to best diagnose each patient’s individual condition and provide the most appropriate course of treatment.

Allergy & Immunology Conditions
Allergies can come in many forms and be spurred by environmental factors. Some common allergy conditions include:
Anaphylaxis: an allergic reaction that happens very quickly typically in response to food, an insect sting, drugs or latex.
Asthma: a chronic inflammatory disease in which the airways in the lungs become small making it difficult to breathe.
Eosinophilic Esophagitis: an allergic condition where the esophagus becomes inflamed.
Food Allergies: caused by contact with certain foods when the immune system overreacts to the proteins in that food.
Insect Sting Allergy: causes trouble breathing, itching, hives or anaphylaxis when an insect stings a person.
Pulmonary Immunodeficiency Diseases: a group of more than 100 diseases that create recurrent infections, which are caused by defects in the body’s immune system.
Rhinitis and Sinusitis: an inflammation of the mucous membranes in the nose, which causes sneezing, itchy nose, runny nose, congestion and/or watery eyes.
Skin Allergies: cause red, bumpy, scaly, itchy or swollen skin, which can be persistent or triggered by environmental factors.
